Ok people I need some honest opinions here. I started this blog after reading Ben Davis’ story of weight loss and his journey to strength. He is the whole reason I started to do life. If he lost weight. I could lose weight (shut up, I’m still working on it)
Now forgive me….
Wow. Not the most well chosen words.
The thing is, if you’re going to comment on the fact that someone has gained back weight they lost, there are probably better ways of saying it than “is Ben getting FATagain.”
I get that many of us who have personally battled with our own weight have a nasty habit and history of throwing insulting or cruel words at ourselves in regard to obesity/weight gain/etc. But I would hope that the environment in a supportive community like this would have helped us realize that calling ourselves or others “fat” isn’t doing anything good for anybody.
If reading and following Ben Davis’ blog and journey helped someone start their own journey, and it was in part because that person realized “if he can do it, so can I,” then shouldn’t the fact that he has experienced a setback and is now correcting it be a lesson in “no matter how far we’ve come, we can always fall back into old habits, but we can ALWAYS try again.”
I guess we all have our own perception, and can put whatever twist on the experience that we’d like. I applaud Ben Davis for continuing to honestly blog about his journey, and not just the pretty parts, and the success stories, but the real struggles that he has faced along the way, that we all may face, even after a year of success, or two years, or three.
Don’t not be perfect around her, she’ll call you right out in a public forum. Nice.
